Dana
Tyson, Mistress of Ceremonies
Radio Personality
KODA Sunny 99.1
Clear Channel Communication
I have been waking up at 3 a.m.
for 17 years, now ... heading to my morning show job
on SUNNY.
I've been married for 20 years and have five children,
ages 19, 17, 15, 12, and 9. I decided to do morning
radio because that was the most high-energy part of
the day for the kids, and I wanted my husband, Bob,
to deal with that. I get them in the afternoons when
we are all tired!
My job and my life go hand in hand. SUNNY's audience
is made up of mostly women like me, dealing with kids,
husbands, and women's issues, so the job and my life
intermingle.
It's wonderful to meet and talk with listeners, and
so much fun to chat with people who entertain us ...
whether it's singers or actors. Meeting The Cheetah
Girls was great, but my favorite all-time interview
was with Will Ferrell!
Every time I hear or read the bios of media people,
they always mention all the awards they've won ... so
I will too! After losing my trophy to Channel 2's morning
anchor Owen Conflenti in 2006, I am proud to announce
that I have regained for 2007 the RodeoHouston Goat
Milking Championship that I won back in 2005. It doesn't
get any better than that ... SUNNY isn't even a country
radio station!!

Barbara
Spier
President,
US Protection and Investigations, LLC
Houston 2007 Woman Business Owner of the Year, NAWBO
Barbara Spier is the president
of US Protection and Investigations, LLC (USPI), a firmly
established and highly successful security and investigation
services company. The firm has over 20 years of national
and international experience spanning the globe. Barbara
is the sole owner of the company headquartered in Houston,
Texas. Her adroit leadership of the international company
and publicly acclaimed successes and accomplishments
stand as examples for women the world over.
Barbara started her career in the investigative and
security field as a private licensed investigator in
the State of Texas. Her company has extensive experience
worldwide in asset and personal protection, and investigative
services.
Barbara has always been very active in empowering women
and enforcing robust gender diversity programs. Her
company was the first firm to ever hire and train female
guards in Afghanistan. The courage Barbara has displayed
to conceive, fund, initiate, and manage this program
provides untold satisfaction when the results of her
efforts are seen throughout the country.
Her number one motivating force at this time is raising
funds for her non-profit organization, Helping Afghan
Women Project (HAWP). The mission of HAWP is to
empower Afghan widows to become self-sufficient; by
first meeting their basic needs, then through education
and skills training; while at the same time creating
goodwill for the American people. In just three short
years, HAWP has shipped thousands of pounds of
warm clothing and much-needed items to Afghanistan.
Countless families (refugees) have been fed and given
coal to keep warm in the bitter cold winters. It has
been remarkable what has been done in Afghanistan, all
starting with Barbara's vision and seen through by her
relentless efforts.
Barbara's husband and best friend is Del Spier. They
have five children and five grandchildren.
