Mistress of Ceremony
Marla Zemanek
A native of
Texas, Marla grew up in the Bay Area. She received a
Master’s degree in Special Education and taught severely
developmentally disabled and institutionalized teens and
adults for 12 years. Following that, she earned a
Master’s degree in Educational Technology – the field of
training and development, and began a 25 year career as
a corporate trainer and instructional designer
specializing in management and employee development. She
has worked for many of the large corporations around the
Bay Area, such as the GAP, Union Bank, Kaiser, SF State,
Bechtel and the Fairmont Hotel, but prefers to be her
own boss. Currently a part-time instructor at
Golden Gate University, Marla teaches the course most
people fear - public speaking - and also works with
private clients and companies. Her favorite strategy in
this area is teaching others to speak with passion. She
is currently developing a project to teach presentation
skills to managers in a European corporation based in
Cairo Egypt. Challenged to maintain a work-life
balance, Marla is a single mother of a 12-year old boy
and is the president of South Beach BNI, a local chapter
of Business Networking International.

Regina Bianucci Rus, CPA
Regina is a senior tax manager at Boerio and Company in
Navota, California. She provides tax, accounting and
management consultant services to their privately owned
businesses and a variety of industries. Regina is a
trusted advisor capable of understanding her clients
needs goals and objectives and can coordinate among
professionals to meet their clients needs.
Ms. Rus is a member of AICPA and CalCPA where she serves
as chair of the Marin Discussion Group.

Keynote Speaker
After graduating summa cum laude with a B.A. in Theatre
Performance, Lua attended the celebrated Neighborhood
Playhouse School of the Theatre and The Dalcroze School
of Music, in Manhattan. Lua's love for languages then
led to a 5-year residency in Italy. She did the
rounds as a New York actress while she waited tables at
the renowned Storyville Jazz Club, where she heard all
the jazz greats of the time (she remembers, with a
thrill, serving Sarah Vaughn.

Author of "Oops You're Dead"
TC
Culberson is a real-life example of what it means to
turn tragedy into passion and purpose. She became very
familiar with the medical industry during her 14-year
crusade with her husband during his fight for health. He
suffered from a rare degenerative illness that required
several surgeries, complicated medication schedules,
countless trips to the emergency room, and an average of
three hospital stays per year. As a software developer
for over 15 years, TC learned systematic problem solving
and creating solutions through process evaluation and
design. Applying these skills to her experiences, she
developed the system found in Oops! You're Dead: A
Helpful Handbook for Surviving Surgery and in her
speech: New Rules for Modern Medicine

Valeri Bocage is
the founder of Powerful Women International and has been
